Mbolo Mpengi

Mbolo Mpengi is a Nigerian born former law student who is currently imprisoned in Egypt.
He is an outspoken critic of organised religion and his popular blog attracted widespread notoriety in Egypt. Mbolo Mpengi was arrested in January 2010 as a result of publishing blog posts that were considered to be anti-religious and offensive to the Egyptian President, Hosni Mubarak.
On February 22nd 2010 in Alexandria, Mpengi was sentenced to 23 years of solitary confinement for insulting Islam, inciting sedition and 3 years for insulting the Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak. The trial was widely condemned within Egypt by liberal elements of the media but gained little attention outside the country due to a media blackout.
