History
Once known as Maywood Junior High School, Maywood Middle School opened in 1969. Maywood's original mascot was called the ram and it's school colors were green and yellow, but these were changed to black and teal in the 1990's as the school began to shed its image as a gritty school with an uneducated student body . In 1999, Maywood went under a major remodel and a new administration was put in place to raise standards and provide tougher discipline on students. Today, Maywood boasts some of the states highest test scores, has changed their colors back to green and yellow, and is known as an affluent school with rich traditions .
