Max Williams-Forbes

Maximilian Williams-Forbes (Max) is a martial artist who holds medals in various grappling tournaments. Max is primarily a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner who is renowned for inventing the concept of submissions and helping make the guard popular. The currently resides in Sydney and trains at VT-1 Gym under coaches Liam and Dylan Resnekov. He runs a busy seminar schedule, often appearing with Royler Gracie as his assistant. Although Australian by birth, Max remains a Brazilian citizen by virtue of his marriage to Kyra Gracie.
Max's influences consist of grapplers and shooto stars such Rumina Sato, Genki Sudo, Caol Uno, Marcello Garcia, Leo Viera, Elton John and Freddie Mercury. He is a regular competitor although now a blue belt has placed 2nd in the 2008 Australian National Submission Grappling Tournament in the men's under 75 kg division, 1st and in the 2007 NSW BJJ State Cup , 1st in the 2008 Sydney BJJ Challenge and recently competed in the 2009 ADCC no gi trials in Australia where he made it to the quarter-finals before submitting to a crotch lock. .
