Matthew Mitchell (politician)

Elijah Matthew Mitchell (born 2003 or 2004) is an American politician and government official from Northeast Florida. A member of the Republican Party, he was a candidate for Clay County, Florida school board in 2024. He previously served in the DeSantis administration from 2023 to 2024.
Early life and education
In 2003 or 2004, Mitchell was born in Clay County, Florida. In 2022, he graduated from Clay High School, where he served as class president. His candidacy was endorsed by Congresswoman Kat Cammack, former lieutenant governor Jennifer Carroll, and former state education commissioner Jim Horne. During the campaign, Mitchell was accused of underage drinking and underage nicotine use, due to images posted on his Snapchat. Mitchell denied the accusations and claimed the account was not his. The August 2024 primary saw a statewide voter turnout of 19%.
Personal life
Mitchell lives in Middleburg, Florida.<ref name=vf/>
