Matt Spicher

Matt Spicher is an American audio engineer.

Birthplace:

Nashville, TN

Bio:

Matt Spicher, A native Nashvillian who grew up and around country music’s famed MusicRow, was literally raised in a recording studio. The son of legendary session fiddler Buddy Spicher (George Strait, Conway Twitty, Don Williams and many, many others), an inquisitive young wannabe often accompanied his dad on master recording sessions and TV shows with strong desires of becoming a session drummer. Sitting silently in the sound booth with drum legends Larry London, Kenny Buttrey and Buddy Harmon, Matt watched and learned from the best in the business…remembering his dad’s motto: If you want to be a professional, hang around with professionals. It wasn’t long before the technical side of studio recording began to draw his attention. Matt recorded his first multi-track project at age 12 on a ¼ inch 4-track recorder he uncovered from its dusty perch in his dad’s attic. Recording beside head engineer Kurt Storey at Burns Station Sound in the mid-80’s, Matt spliced his first 2” analogue tape before he could legally drive. A degree in the Recording Arts and Sciences soon followed at MTSU in Murfreesboro, TN and by the time he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Matt was an active music industry engineer with dozens of projects already under his belt. Matt is now the President of Stellar Cat Records and owns the Entertainment Company, Mystic Biscuit, Inc.

Matt’s 20-year discography includes a Grammy Award winner, several Grammy Nominations, A USA Today Top 5 Album of the Year and A People Magazine’s Critic’s Choice.
