Matt Ryder is an American radio personality, best known for his weekend radio show on 92.3 NOW in New York City. Starting in radio at the age of 15, Ryder was first hired at WYZB FM in Fort Walton Beach, FL to do weekends/swing when the station was called "Country 105.5" in 2001. After six months working at WYZB, sister station WZNS FM, "Z96" picked up Ryder for additional weekend duties where he used the on air name "Kannon". After two years working with Cumulus Media in Fort Walton Beach, VP of Programming Jan Jeffries moved Ryder to do nights at sister station WJLQ FM (known at the time as Q-100) in Pensacola, Florida. During his time at WJLQ, Jefferies also had Ryder assist in signing on a new CHR station in Mobile, AL. After nearly four years working with Cumulus Media, Ryder was offered his first major-market radio job doing weekends and swing at WBTS FM (95-5 The Beat) in Atlanta, Georgia in 2004. After only a few short months at WBTS, Ryder was offered a promotion to overnights at cross-town rival WSTR FM (Star 94) where he remained for over a year. In 2005, Ryder was offered his first full-time job as night show host and Music Director in Tulsa, Oklahoma at Top 40 KHTT FM (106.9 K-HITS). After one year in his position as Music Director and night show host, Ryder was promoted to Assistant Program Director and midday host on the station where he remained for another year. In 2007, Ryder left KHTT and Oklahoma to head to Texas where he remained until 2009. During this time Ryder left his on air duties behind and got into radio sales with Clear Channel Radio where he excelled for over two years and developed a new passion for radio through sales and integrated marketing campaigns. Ryder's success in sales brought him to New York City where he started selling local advertising campaigns for CBS RADIO and their six New York radio stations (WCBS FM, WWFS FM, WXRK FM, WCBS AM, WFAN AM and WINS AM). Through his connections in the sales department, Ryder became friends with Rob Wagman and Dom Theodore who hired him and put him back on the air on Top 40 92.3 NOW where he remains today. In 2010, Ryder was promoted to Director, Strategic Sales for the CBS Radio Altitude Group where he focuses on National advertising campaigns for Fortune 500 Companies.
