Marwan Abedin

Marwan Abedin (), is the Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC) appointed by Her Royal Highness Princess Haya bint Al Hussein, in her capacity as Chairperson of Dubai Healthcare City Authority (DHCA), the legislative body of the free zone.
DHCC is a medical free zone which provides medical care, education and research. DHCC currently hosts two hospitals and over 120 clinics that cover more than 90 specialties and employ 4000 licensed health professionals. Six more hospitals are planned to be added to DHCC as well spa resorts, sports medicine facilities, nutrition centres and a retirement home.
DHCC has multiple facilities dedicated to medical education including the Mohammed Bin Rashid Academic Medical Centre, Al Maktoum Medical Library, and Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor Medical Simulation Centre. DHCC is also developing a 200-bed capacity University Hospital.
Career
Over the course of his career, Abedin held key positions in the UAE’s finance sector. Before joining DHCC, Abedin was Chief Executive Officer of the Dubai Financial Support Fund, an entity formed by a Royal Decree to provide financial liquidity to the government and government-related entities undertaking projects of strategic importance within Dubai.
Abedin was also the Director of Debt Management at the Department of Finance - Government of Dubai, responsible for treasury and debt issues of public sector entities and liaising with the government’s Legal Affairs Department.
Abdein serves as a member of the Board of Directors of DHCA and sits on the Board of Directors of Emaar Properties PJSC and Al Jalila Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation established by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, to support medical education and research.
Abedin also serves as committee member of the Bretton Woods Committee and the - Middle East. He is also as member of the Economic Club of New York.
Education
Abedin holds a Bachelor of Economics and Political Science from Wake Forest University, North Carolina, US.
He was the first UAE national to qualify as the General Securities Registered Representative (Series 7) by the .
Hobbies/ interests
Abedin is a keen photographer and is an avid art collector.
