Following the 2003-2004 season, he transferred to Bangor High School in Bangor, Maine to play Class A basketball with the Rams, who had won 3 of the previous 5 state championships.
While at Maine, Socoby held a position of leadership on the team.
In March 2009, Socoby, who was a three year starter and scored more than 1,000 points with the Black Bears, announced he would transfer to another school, saying:
"It’s not something I was thinking about during the year, but at this point, after a lot of thought and talking to my family and close friends, I feel this is the best decision for me and them, too...I’ve thought a lot and prayed about it. I just felt like I wanted to explore different things and see where they lead."
Socoby was third-team All-America East Conference in 2008-2009. He was also a two-time Bangor Daily News All-Maine team first-team honoree.<ref name="Neff"/>
