Mark Poulton

Mark Poulton (born April 5, 1973 in Stratford, NJ) is an American comic book author and the Vice President of Operations for Arcana Studio.

Biography

Poulton’s start in the comics industry began in 2005 when he along with Stephen Sistill and Dexter Weeks signed their creator-owned series, Koni Waves, up with Arcana Studio. The series debuted in May 2006 and would go on to be nominated for 3 Eagle Awards. Around the same time, Mark became the Head of Marketing for Arcana Studio. 2007 saw the release of “Hog Wild” a short story Mark wrote for Arcana’s Dark Horrors Anthology. Joining him on the story was World of Warcraft artist, Jon Buran. Later that year saw the release of Koni Waves: The Headdress of the Undead as well as the first Koni Waves TPB entitled First Wave. In addition, Koni Waves/Demonslayer was released teaming Koni up with Marat Mychaels’ Image Comics/Avatar Press bad girl.

In June 2008, it was announced that Mark had become the Vice President of Operations at Arcana Studio. The next month, the next installment of the Koni Waves adventures, Ghouls Gone Wild! was released written by Poulton featuring art from Koni collaborators Sistilli and Weeks. Later this year, the three will team-up again for a new book, Velvet Rope, an anthology which will debut three new Arcana titles Baker’s Dozen, Club Vampire, Daddy’s Little Girl from Poulton as short stories.

Mark oftens credits Rob Liefeld as his biggest influence. A conversation with the comic’s legend led to the announcement of the team-up of their two characters, Avengelyne vs. Koni Waves which is scheduled for a 2009 release.

Also, appeared in movies Unbreakable and Steel Spirit.
