Mark hurwitz

Co-Founder and Chairman; Newport Concours D'elegance. A resident of Barre Mass., he lives with his wife Martha and two children. Active in the car collecting scene and a high-end collector of vintae auctomobiles including Duesenbergs, Auburns and many others. After the demise of the Castle Hill show, he felt the need for a new show in New England. After being asked to head up the judging for the Hartford Concours, he joined with partner John Lyons to found the Newport Concours. The inaguaral event was held May 28th, 2006 at Astor's Beechwood Mansion in Newport, Rhode Island.

Following the success of the first show, sevel other entities attempted to run shows modeled after the Newport Concours. First was Newport Mansions also known as the Preservation Society. Their show was pretty much an exact duplicate of the Newport Concours.

The Vanderbilt was cancelled after one showing. Their former show Chair attempted to lauch the Belmont Festival playing is as a continuation of the Vanderbilt and even managed to sign Bonham's to do a vintage car auction as part of the show but was turned down by the City Council which remembered the problems she had caused with much of the Newport Community in producing the Vanderbilt Concours.

2007 was a celebration of boat tail and skiff automobiles and drew a large assortment of both to the fabled grounds of Goat Island in Newport. The 2008 theme is scheduled to be an assortment of custom built and coach built autombiles from the classic era.
