Mario Kart Drunk Dash

Mario Kart: Dunk Dash!! (MKDD) is a drinking game developed to be played strictly with the game on the Nintendo GameCube platform and with beer. It is specifically a two player game with each participant taking part in the 16 race All-Cup Tour. Developed by two university students in 2006 out of a more archaic form of an earlier drinking game it has developed into a popular drinking game among veterans of the game requiring skill and knowledge of the Mario Kart: Double Dash!! race tracks.

History
MKDD was created by house mates Chris Levy and Paul Deacon who, having discovered their high skill level at this game, wished to find a way to make it more challenging. Due to the popularity of drinking games played by young adults of their age and their love of the game an early version of this drinking game was created. Unnamed, it simply involved a 2-player "All Cup Tour" with one beer being drunk by each player every four races, regardless of ranking, for a total of four beers each. due to the fact that an average all cup tour took approximately 40-45 minutes, this was an perceived as an excellent way to regulate drinking at a level which would provide a base level of inebriation.

However, soon after the two played a few rounds of this, they realized that, in the spirit of the competition of the all cup tour, they should create a more complex rule set that would provide them with a representative drink total. The early rules were obvious: loser between the two takes a drink, loser of the lap times (called the "Indie" or more pejoratively, the "Mongies") would also take a drink and then several rules were created to increase the requirement for skilled players to be the only people who could play it without having to drink an excessive number of beers.

Currently, the constitution of MKDD is in its 3 draft.

Rules
Each infraction to the rules is to be met by one "drink" (a swig of beer, the total of which will be tallied at the end of each of the 16 races. There are also a number of added bonuses for completion of an impressive and difficult feat, for example, dodging a spiny shell.

The rules are as follows:

* Loss of a race
* Loss of the Indie Numbers (best individual lap time)
* Falling off the course at any time
* Failing to complete the following special sections of these race courses
** Daisy Cruiser- alternate route around pool.
** Mushroom Bridge- must travel the length of the one of the trusses on either side of the bridge.
*** falling into the water is grounds for 2 drinks: one for falling off the course, the other for not completing this section.
** Wario Coliseum- drift the first two corners after the down spiral in two consecutive turns
** DK Mountain- shortcut through the S-curve before the bridge.
*** another special section is the cannon at the beginning; on the first lap whoever is second of the two players into it is penalized a drink
** Dino Dino Jungle- pass through both sets of legs of the Brachiosaur without striking them.
** Bowser's Castle- shortcut past where Bowser shoots fire balls.
* Failing to boost off the starting blocks
* Any major elevation above the race course during the race
** major elevation includes any elevation from spiny shells, bob-ombs, cataquaks, or tornadoes but does not include being lifted onto the course by the cloud Koopa (covered in the third rule)
* Witnessing an opponents Deke of a spiny shell
** this is honoured by the opponent draining the entire contents of his/her beer
** this must be a legitimate deke the same way as one dekes a red shell

Miscellaneous
These rules generally allow for a drink total of 3-4 beers per contestant per round of MKDD. As a sign of good faith both participants shake hands and chug the remaining fluid in their container following the final race of the series. As can be inferred, these rules make no concessions for beginning players and this drinking game should only be attempted by those who are highly adept at Mario Kart: Double Dash!! or with an adapted rule list.
