Marie Douglas

Marie Douglas-David (born 1972) is a Swedish-American business woman, former Vice President at Lazard Asset Management. Recently noted for her marriage to and divorce from American industrialist George David.
Career
Douglas-David has Master of Laws (LLM) degree from Stockholm University (1995), a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Studies from The London School of Economics and Political Science (1996) and an Executive Master of Business Administration from Stockholm School of Economics (2008). She began her career as a Junior Associate with Baker & McKenzie in Stockholm. She has since held positions as a financial analyst at Credit Suisse Boston (New York) and as
Associate working with mergers and acquisitions at the Investment Banking division of Lazard Freres & Co LLP before becoming Vice President at Lazard Asset Management in 1999, responsible for equity research focusing on Global Telecom Services as well as Aerospace and Defense. Douglas-David held that position until she resigned in 2003 following her marriage to George David in 2002.
She has since gained recognition for her engagement with major art institutions, as the founder and President of the American Friends of Moderna Museet, Inc, a US based 501(3)c organization for the benefit of the Moderna Museet in Stockholm, Sweden, and as a board member for Wanås Foundation. Douglas-David also holds a position as a board member of Creative Time (New York), an organization promoting ground-breaking art of our times.
Family
Douglas-David is a Swedish countess by birth. She is the daughter of count Philip Douglas and his former wife Birgitta (née Blomstedt). In her work for Lazard Asset Management she met George David, CEO of UTC, when representing one of the largest shareholders in the company. The couple married in 2002. David and Douglas-David separated in 2008 and are presently in a process of divorce. She has said that $43 million post-nuptial she agreed to in a 2005 agreement is not enought to cover the roughly $53,000 she spends per week on personal expenses. She is asking for more than $99 million.
