Marco Pasqua (born July 4, 1985) is an inspirational motivational speaker from Vancouver, Canada. He is the founder of The CUBE Principle and co-founder of Hunky Haulers. Pasqua is also the director of communications for Reality Controls, marketing and community manager for Planat and ambassador for numerous not-for-profit organizations. Early life Pasqua was born three months premature, weighing only two pounds, ten ounces and was later diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. His development involved multiple blood transfusions, thirteen surgeries, and countless hours of physical therapy, occupational therapy and recreation therapy throughout his childhood. His involvement with recreation therapy opened the doors for competitive athletics including horseback riding, swimming, track and field and wheelchair basketball. Pasqua competed in the BC Summer and Winter Games for People with Disabilities, winning 22 Gold, 10 silver and 2 bronze medals. At the age of 10, Pasqua got his first speaking opportunity, hosting the Timmy's Christmas Telethon in support of BC Lion's Society's Easter Seals Programs. He developed a love and affinity for public speaking when first interviewed by Red Robinson, a local British Columbia radio celebrity, on Timmy's Christmas Telethon when he was asked to be Timmy, the ambassador for the annual fundraising effort. As a child, Pasqua was also frequently a spokesperson for The Pacific Riding Riding for the Disabled, The Centre for Child Development and other Easter Seals fundraising events. Pasqua continues to act as an advocate in the community for many charitable organizations. Career Speaking After high school, Pasqua completed his diploma in Game Design and proceeded to work at game studios including Electronic Arts and Radical Entertainment. In November of 2010, Pasqua was laid off from working in the Game Industry and proceeded to follow his original dream of speaking professionally. Inspired by the long-work hours, team environment and frequent burn-out seen in this industry, he developed his own keynote presentations and workshop materials. He completed the Entrepreneurial program at the SEEDS Business Development Society and was named Valedictorian, graduating in February 2012. In 2013, SEEDS honoured Pasqua with their Entrepreneur of the Year award at the Business Leadership Awards. As a Inspirational Speaker, Pasqua speaks to audiences consisting mainly of corporate groups, school groups, and community-based organizations about the challenges he has faced and overcoming them with the use of his CUBE Principle. The CUBE Principle is a system he created which stands for "Creatively Utilize your Best Energy" and is a how-to system for overcoming even the greatest challenges. He has spoken across the Lower Mainland of British Columbia and has been approached by clients as far as South Africa. Pasqua has spoken to groups ranging in size from 15 to 1000+ and was even one of the featured speakers for the City of Surrey's Top 25 under 25. The CUBE Principle is described as a three step method to overcome challenges. Pasqua teaches audiences how to recognize a challenge, assess what is needed to overcome it and use your best energy to overcome it. He focuses much of his talks on the energy you put out to people and how body language and something as simple as a correct handshake can affect professional and personal interactions. Pasqua has had the opportunity to speak for not-for-profit groups, businesses, Lion's Club conferences, The Duke Of Edinburgh Awards Ceremony and more. Pasqua has also spent two years giving his time as Impact Speaker for The United Way of the Lower Mainland, with whom he has spoken to over 300 agencies in British Columbia. For the United Way, Pasqua gives an abbreviated presentation focusing on anti-bullying and on, what he refers to as Leveling up your Life. He has also been featured on Shaw's The Rush/Urban Rush, Timmy's Christmas telethon and JoyTV News. He has been interviewed by Kaitlyn Herbst, Fiona Forbes, Michael Eckford, Leah Bolton and Red Robinson. In March of 2013, Pasqua was a featured speaker at TEDx Stanley Park, alongside Sean Sibbet of Reality Controls, speaking to the audience about adaptive technologies and how voice and motion-control technology can help people with disabilities. His role at TEDx led him to be scouted by Invoke Labs and to now work on the Planat project alongside Rick Hansen. Most recently, Pasqua was asked to be a Community Champion for the British Columbia Ministry of Social Development and Social Innovation where he was asked to speak on issues relating to people with disabilities in the Vancouver community. Pasqua acted as a mediator for Deaf and hard of hearing participants and was able to demonstrate that meeting the needs of the community is not just about meeting the needs of people with disabilities, but of meeting the needs for everyone. Planat Planat is an online tool that allows you to search and review the accessibility of places worldwide. Planat allows people to find out what access features are available, consumers can make informed decisions based on what access features are relevant to them. As the Marketing and Community Manager for Planat, Pasqua is responsible for engaging the community through attending events, social media and marketing initiatives. Working on Plant allows him to use his passion for speaking and community engagement to both further Planat and his Inspirational Speaking. On the Planat project, Pasqua has the opportunity to work alongside the rest of the Invoke Labs team, including Hootsuite accelerator David Tedman.
