Marcella Zoia

Marcella Zoia also popularly referred by her nickname as Chair Girl (born 2000) is a Canadian social media personality and criminal charged with endangering life. In February 2019, at the age of 19 she caught wide media attention in Canada after doing a reckless publicity stunt by throwing a chair on the Gardiner Expressway donning police shirt. She is an Instagram model with over 20, 000 followers.
Life
She was enthusiastic about reaching and gaining popularity through making extra acting stunts. She recorded a footage in her Instagram account where she was noticed to have thrown a chair from the 45th floor of the skyscraper balcony of a rented apartment in Toronto which eventually fell on the Gardiner Expressway. It was reported that she drunk alcohol a day before in the night prior to the incident. The footage of her stunt which was also caught on camera, went viral on social media platforms as initially it gained popularity after being uploaded to the Facebook. She sooner rose to limelight and prominence and even got media attention in Toronto and was also nicknamed by the media as the Chair Girl. She also received backlash on social media, but she stated the video was made as a joke. However her act was considered to be a serious offence and a lawsuit was filed against her despite no fatalities being reported. In November 2019, she was pleaded guilty to mischief endangering life.
Marcella also made a brief appearance in the 2019 musical video of popular Canadian rapper Drake which was released on 24 December 2019. However the video featuring Marcella was removed from YouTube due to outcry and criticism of Marcella's act.
In February 2020, she publicly apologised for her behaviour. On 21 July 2020, via a teleconference she was relieved and dodged from a six-month jail term and was handled a fine of $2000 Canadian Dollars and 150 hours of community service along with two year probation.
Her jail sentence was delayed and was postponed on numerous occasions due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
