Maranatha day

MARANATHA DAY is a day that Christians have set aside to unite in faith and prayer, all over the world, to express their longing for the second coming of Jesus Christ. In 2012, MARANATHA DAY will hold on Sunday, May 20th.
An annual, inter-denominational initiative, MARANATHA DAY provides a platform for all Christians, on the same day, to pray, reflect and act on Jesus’ admonition for the church to stand ready for His return in glory to judge the living and the dead.
Simply translated, the word MARANATHA means ‘Come, Lord Jesus’.
The concept of praying for the return of Jesus flows from The Lord’s Prayer (Luke 11:2) where Jesus taught His disciples to pray ‘… thy Kingdom come…’. This prayer points forward to the day when Jesus will return to set up God’s Kingdom on the earth.
Similarly, in Revelation 22:20, Jesus told Apostle John, “Surely I am coming soon.” The response of the Apostle was inviting in tone, and yearning in aspiration: “Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!” The MARANATHA DAY concept echoes this exchange between Jesus and His favourite disciple.
In 2012, the inaugural observance of MARANATHA DAY will be marked by spending some time during the service to pray about the second coming of Jesus Christ. In subsequent years, churches will develop other ways of commemorating MARANATHA DAY - in sermons, talks, songs, drama, evangelism or other outreach programmes.
DATES
MARANATHA DAY holds annually on the Sunday after Ascension Day. (Ascension Day is taken to be 40 days from Easter Sunday, according to Acts 1:3).

Maranatha Day is an initiative of THIS ONE EVENT, a UK-registered, end-time ministry comprising believers from Evangelical and Pentecostal backgrounds.
