Manahan

Manahan is a Canadian hard rock/heavy metal band from Keswick, Ontario. They were the recipient of the Barrie New Music Awards "Best Metal Act". The band was formed by frontman Cory Manahan in 2008. The band currently consists of Cory Manahan (lead vocals and guitar) and Kris Merriman (drums). Manahan have released 1 album, 3 singles and an EP. Manahan are currently touring around the Greater Toronto Area with Dan Preston on bass, and are set to open up for Lamb of God on January 27, 2012 along with The Acacia Strain.
Formation and Lineup Change
Cory Manahan started playing bars when he was 13 years old with cover bands. When Manahan's first Extended Play was released in 2009 the band's lineup consisted of Cory Manahan on vocals and guitar, Ken Cormier on drums with Kevin Whittaker on bass. 2010's Commence shows a lineup change with current drummer Kris Merriman.
Style
Manahan's style has been described as being "clearly influenced by modern metal-edged acts such as Slipknot and Lamb Of God". Before starting the band, frontman Cory Manahan says that he "started with playing early Zeppelin and Sabbath. When I was about 14 I started getting into the more extreme metal, and I’ve been listening to everything since”.
The group's MySpace page lists Ozzy Osbourne, Black Sabbath, Lamb of God, Trivium, and Slipknot as major influences.
