Majhraut

The Majhraut or Madhuraut (also known as Madhukulya) are Yadav (Gopa) clan that inhabits the state of Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal. Sometimes Majhraut Yadavs are referred as Mathurabasi because they migrated from Mathura.
The Majhraut numerically exceeds other sub-castes of Yadavs in Madhepura, Saharsa, Purnia and its adjoining districts.
Origin
Majhraut or Mathurabasi Yadavs traces their origin to King Madhu of Yadu tribe mentioned in Rigveda. They claim to be the much more Aryan type and to be pure Gopas.
History
Once Angadesh was ruled by the Varman Dynasty, it was founded by King Jatavarman in 11th century and
Majhraut Yadavs of Bharko-Rampur village is the descendant of King Jatavarman.
Majhraut Yadavs ruled over few princely states and zamindari (estate) like Raj Nazargunj, Murho Estate, Belwargunj, Ranipatti, Khurda etc.
Majhraut Yadavs never sell either milk, ghee or butter, and have, to a large extent, became cultivators. They are recognised as big landholders in Northern Bihar.
