Maintenance audit

Conducting a maintenance audit of an organisation will show where there are short comings in their work methods. An audit is carried out by examining paper trails and questioning employees from a representative cross-section of the company. Audit results can then be used to produce an improvement plan. Whether you are maintaining a space shuttle, submarine or any other equipment between these extremes the same basic methods are required. They include tradesmen, spare parts, materials, tools, work methods and any necessary safety considerations. To ensure you asset is functioning at full capacity the application of good maintenance is paramount and is best achieved by proper planning with a defined strategy, well-documented policies and procedures. What is essential is that no single approach is allowed to dominate the maintenance function. The correct approach should be applied where the situation calls for it.
