Magna Times

The Magna Times is a free, weekly broadsheet newspaper in the city of Magna, Utah with a 3,200 - 3,500 circulation. Published on Thursdays, the Magna Times is distributed in Magna, Kearns, and West Valley City, Utah. Richard Elliott, a veteran of almost 50 years in media and a resident of Magna for almost 20 years, is the Editor and Publisher of the Magna Times. The paper, first published in 1923, is an amalgamation and consolidation of many newspapers that sprung up in the late 19th century and early 20th century around an area called Pleasant Green that dates back to early Mormon Pioneer times. In 1906, the community's name was changed from "Pleasant Green" to "Magna" although it was not changed officially for many years.

Howard Arnold Jarvis, of Prop 13 fame in California and a native of Magna, was an early publisher of the Magna Times.

The current editor and publisher of the Magna Times is Richard Elliott. He brought the Magna Times back into print in September 2015. Originally, Elliott published The Magna Times on the first and third Thursdays of the Monday. Because of the acceptance of the paper, publication was increased to a weekly basis on July 1, 2015.
