Lynne M. Dixon Quinlivan is an independent American politician who serves as a member of the Erie County, New York Legislature from the 9th district, which encompasses the town of Hamburg, the villages of Blasdell and Hamburg, and portions of the cities of Buffalo and Lackawanna. Early career Prior to serving in the Legislature, Dixon worked as a reporter for WGRZ, a news station in Western New York. Legislature Dixon successfully ran for the Erie County Legislature in 2009 against incumbent Legislator Robert B. Reynolds, Jr. and won with 59% of the vote. She ran for re-election in 2011, 2013, 2015, and 2017. In 2011, Dixon prevailed with 56% of the vote in a thee-way race which included local attorney Dennis Gaughan as an independent candidate. In 2013, she won with 58% of the vote. In 2015, she prevailed with her largest win since her 2009 election with 64% of the vote. In 2017, she faced Hamburg Councilman Michael P. Quinn, Jr. and received 54% of the final vote. In the Legislature, Lynne caucuses with the Republican legislators. She announced she was not a candidate for re-election in 2018; instead running for the position of Erie County Executive against incumbent County Executive Mark Poloncarz. Personal life Dixon was raised in Amherst, New York. She currently resides in the Village of Hamburg with her children. She attended Williamsville North High School and then West Virginia University, where she majored in English. She has received many awards an honors during her career as a journalist.
