Luke Selmes

Luke Phillip Selmes was born in Boorowa, New South Wales, Australia in 1994 (Age 15). Selmes is a well known young successful Australian sporting star. Selmes has achieved great success in his sporting career. Selmes is currently contracted with the Wagga Waratahs Rugby Union Club and also contracted with the Canberra Raiders.
Rugby League
Selmes rugby league career started in 2000 when he signed with the Boorowa Rovers. Selmes displayed his rugby league talent when he won Best & Fairest and was the top point scorer that year. In 2001 Selmes signed a two year contract with the Wagga Magpies. In 2001 Selmes was named Best & Fairest. In 2002 Selmes was named captain for the Magpies and he captained them to their first ever grand final but were defeated 14-12. Selmes was named Man of the Match and Best & Fairest for the 2002 season. But controversey struck the Wagga Magpies at the start of 2003 when the club was kicked out of the competition due to salary cap breach. The Magpies were found to paying players extra money to stay at the club.
In 2010 Selmes was offered a contract the play for the Canberra Raiders at the start of the 2013 season, Selmes accepted this contract.
Soccer
Selmes was lucky enough to sign a contract with the Henwood Park Hawks in 2004. The Hawks won the grand final that year against Tolland 2-1. Hes contract was extended until the end of 2006. In 2005 the Hawks once again made it to the grand final but were beaten 2-1. That year Selmes found himself a permanent position in the backline for the Hawks. In 2006 Hawks won the grand final deafeat Henwood Park Tigers 3-0. In 2006 Selmes was named Best & Fairest. The Hawks diaplayed there dominance in the soccer competion becoming premiers in 2007, 2008 and 2009. Selmes was voted Best & Fairest in 2007 and 2008. At the end of the 2009 season Selmes announced his retirement from the Hawks.
Selmes soccer career continued when he was selected in the England squad for MDIFA in 2008. England won MDIFA in 2009, Selmes was voted Man of the Match. England made it to the final in 2010 but lost in a controversial match. Selmes was balmed for the loss but he blamed it on Joe Byrnes who missed the kick to win. Selmes though was the stand-out in the final and earned himslef the name 'The Rock of all Ages'. Selmes was then selected in the MDIFA All-Stars squad. Selmes was offered a contract to Jamacia but declined and re-signed with England.
Rugby Union
In 2010 Selmes signed with the Wagga Waratahs. He impressed everyone with his natural gift the play the game. Selmes was named Fly Half in game one of the season and held his position for the rest of the season. In Round 12 Selmes suffered a serious injury and servre neck damage when he was trying to make a tackle. Doctors said Selmes would not be able to play for the rest of the season but courageously Selmes returned and played at his best. The Waratahs were defeated in the semi-final but everyone was impressed with the team.
Selmes was selected to represent Australia in the Schoolboys Rugby Union World Cup in 2011 in England. Selmes impressed coach Ewan Mackenzie who said Selmes has the capability to become the greatest Rugby Union player in the world.
Selmes has been chosen to represent the island of Viti Levu in the Pacific Rugby Cup in Fiji in 2011.
AFL
In 2007 Selmes signed with the Eastern Hawks. Selmes found it hard to make the team but in the backend of the season Selmes found a permanent position of the wing for the Hawks. Selmes was voted Best & Fairest. But Selmes left the club stating that AFL was not his game.
