Luke Hemmings

Lucas Robert "Luke" Hemmings (born 16 July 1996) is the lead vocalist and guitarist of Australian pop punk band 5 Seconds of Summer. He first became known when he published videos of himself singing on YouTube in 2011. Later, current members, Calum Hood and Michael Clifford joined his youtube channel where they began filming themselves singing covers of songs and posting them. In December 2011, drummer Ashton Irwin joined the band completing what is known today as 5 Seconds of Summer.
Early life
Luke grew up with his parents, Liz Hemmings and Andrew Hemmings. Luke's first video, a cover of Mike Posner's "Please Don't Go", was posted on February 3, 2011. He recorded many covers such as "You Found Me" by The Fray, "Jersey" by Mayday Parade, and many more. He attended Norwest Christian College along with two other members of 5 Seconds of Summer. The band included all four of its current members officially on December 4, 2011.
He was joined by current members, minus Ashton, of 5 Seconds of Summer with their cover of Chris Brown's "Next 2 You". They quickly became known with 600,000 views on the video that included dates in Sydney, Perth, Brisbane, Adelaide, and Melbourne before taking off on their "Take Me Home" tour with One Direction.
Music career
Due to their youtube success, 5 Seconds of Summer earned themselves a strong, dedicated fan base known as the 5SOS Fam. A few years after their debut on youtube, they created a small EP called Somewhere New that then went to number 4 on the Australia Charts. Then in 2012, they announced that they would be touring with Hot Chelle Rae on their summer tour.

Since creating 5 Seconds of Summer, they have been on tour with One Direction, almost doubling their fanbase, created an EP called "Somewhere New", and created their first ever single "Out of my Limit". They also released other singles such as "Heartbreak Girl", "Try Hard", "She Looks So Perfect", "Beside You", and "Wherever You Are" They recently had a tour in the UK and are currently on their North American "Stars, Stripes and Maple Syrup" tour., with locations like San Francisco, Los Angeles, Dallas, Chicago Illinois, and even Toronto. They also have announced an Australian "No Place Like Home" tour, in early may.
5 Seconds of Summer will be joining One Direction once again during their "Where We Are" tour.
