Luis Oliveros

Luis Gerardo Oliveros (born June 18, 1983 in Guatire, Miranda State, Venezuela) is a former minor league baseball catcher. Oliveros has played his entire career with the Seattle Mariners organization in the minors, primarily in Single-A and Double-A. He was signed as a non-drafted free agent June 18, 2000.
Professional career

Oliveros began his professional career in the 2000 season with the Rookie-Level Peoria Mariners of the Arizona League. He hit .356 with five doubles and 19 RBIs in 28 games.
In 2001 Oliveros split the season between the Peoria Mariners and the Short-Season Everett AquaSox of the Northwest League. In a combined 51 games he hit .304 with nine doubles, one triple, five home runs and 32 RBIs. He played in the Arizona Fall League at seasons end.
He spent the entire 2002 season with the Class-A Wisconsin Timber Rattlers of the Midwest League. Oliveros hit .229 with 11 doubles and 20 RBIs in 82 games. Oliveros played in the Venezulan Winter League during the winter of '02.
Oliveros played the 2003 with the Class-A Advanced Inland Empire 66ers of the California League. In 93 games he hit .286 with 19 doubles, five home runs and 41 RBIs. He played in both the Arizona Fall League and the Venezulan Winter League at the end of the '03 season.
In 2004 Oliveros played the entire season with the Double-A San Antonio Missions of the Texas League. He was invited to spring training by the Mariners to start the season. He was cut from camp before the season and was assigned to the Missions where he hit .229 with 19 doubles four home runs and 22 RBIs in 80 games.
Oliveros split the 2005 season between the Class-A Advanced Inland Empire 66ers and the Double-A San Antonio Missions. He missed all of spring training due to immigration restrictions. He hit a combined .279 with eight doubles, two triples, four home runs and 34 RBIs in 58 games.
In 2006 Oliveros began the season with the Class-A Advanced Inland Empire 66ers but was promoted to the Double-A San Antonio Missions on May 15. He was called up to the Major Leagues on July 9, 2006 All-Star break, as Mariners catcher Kenji Johjima was granted a request to go home to his native Japan to witness the birth of his third child. Oliveros never made an appearance at the Major League level as he was outrighted to Inland Empire. As a member of the Missions Oliveros faced Cy Young Award winner Roger Clemens during one of Clemens' rehab starts in the Houston Astros organization. He recorded a single off Clemens.
Oliveros was invited to spring training with the Mariners in . He was reassigned to Minor League camp on March 13. He spent the entire season with the Double-A West Tenn Diamond Jaxx of the Southern League. He hit .286 in 50 games.
He split the 2008 season between the Double-A West Tenn Diamond Jaxx and the Triple-A Tacoma Rainiers. He started the season with the Diamond Jaxx until June 22 saw him a promotion to Triple-A. He only appeared in one game between July 27 and August 14 with the Rainiers. Oliveros hit a combined .276 with one home run and 12 RBIs in 53 games.
Oliveros was re-signed by the Mariners going into the season. It was announced in January that he would again be a non-roster invitee going into spring training. During spring training, he tore his ACL and missed the entire 2009 season. He returned in 2010 to play in 15 games for West Tenn, but became a free agent again after the season.
