Ludovik Kendi

Ludovik Kendi, also Ludovic Kendi (born Lajos Kendi 1976 Transylvania, Romania) is a Romanian belcanto Baritone who lives and works in Austria.
Biography
Kendi began his vocal studies in 1998 at the Gheorghe Dima Music Academy in Cluj-Napoca (Romania). During that time he joined the ensemble of the Romanian National Opera as a soloist. In 2003, he transitioned from Romania to Austria and began to further his vocal studies at the Mozarteum (Salzburg, Austria). Whilst studying in Austria he sang under the direction of Simon Rattle at the Salzburg Easter Festival in Nikolaus Lehnhoff's Fidelio-production.
In 2009, Kendi sang the part of "Tonio" in Ruggero Leoncavallo's Pagliacci at the Teatro Comunale di Adria on the side of famous operasinger Giuseppe Giacomini.
In 2010, Kendi sang the part of "Ruprecht" in Philipp Harnoncourt's production of Sergej Prokofjew's The Fiery Angel at the Odeon Theater (Vienna, Austria). He sang in 2011 the title role in Nikolaus Schapfl's opera Caravaggio. The same year he joined the ensamble of the Tyrolean Festival Erl where he sang the parts of "Orthel'" and "Kothner" in Richard Wagner's Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg under the direction of Gustav Kuhn.
Since 2011, Kendi is an ensemble member of the State Theatre Košice (Slovakia). Kendi has also worked with conductors including Elisabeth Fuchs, Reinhard Seehafer, Jonas Alber, Pietro Perini, Alberto Triola, Cristian Mandeal, Petre Sbârcea and Sándor Végh.
In 2012 Kendi formed together with Ulfried Haselsteiner (Tenor), Markus Herzog (Tenor), Michael Doumas] (Bass) and Florian Podgoreanu (Piano) the male vocal quartet CantoSonor. They have been touring through Europe since 2015.

* 2003 Special Award of the international Voice Competition Hariclea Darclée in Romania.
* 2006 Winner of the international Voice Competition Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg in Germany.
