Lori Cohen Moseley is an American politician who served as Mayor of Miramar, Florida, from 1999 to 2015, as a member of the Democratic Party. Prior to her tenure as mayor she served on the city commission from 1995 to 1999. Early life Lori Cohen Moseley was born Long Island,New York, and later moved to Miramar, Florida, in 1983. She married Kenneth Moseley, with whom she had two children. Moseley defeated Nick Sacco, an incumbent member of the city commission from the 4th distirct, in the 1995 election. Mayoralty Elections Moseley initially sought reelection to the city commission, but ran for mayor following Vicki Coceano's retirement announcement and defeated Jim Cundiff in the 1999 mayoral election. Wayne Messam, who had previously served on the city commission, defeated Mosley in the 2015 mayoral election due to the increase in Miramar's black population which was now represented by an all-black city commission. Tenure Moseley appointed Robert Payton to serve as city manager in 2001, and he served until his resignation in 2013. Moseley was appointed to serve on the city's nineteen-member charter review commission by Broward County commissioner Barbara Sharief after losing reelection as mayor. Electoral history
