Lorenzo Belenguer

Lorenzo Belenguer is a contemporary visual artist born in Valencia, Spain in 1970. Belenguer was also the gallery co-ordinator at The Gallery at Willesden Green in London for six years until 2012.
Works
Belenguer works mainly on rusted metal and oil paint in primary colours which he sees as three-dimensional paintings, also in the reuse of old masterpieces of pastoral scenes and portraits always within a strong minimalist aesthetic. Belenguer also created and developed a three-year social media project for the Cultural Olympiad of London 2012 called Testimonies. Belenguer actually lives and works in London.
Exhibitions
Belenguer was the only Spanish artist invited to Factual Nonsense at the Red Gallery in Shoreditch, which was organised as a homage to Joshua Compton. An advocate of the Arts who was influential in promoting the artist group known as the Young British Artists (or YBAs) in the 90's. He has exhibited at the Museum of Reading. Belenguer was one of the two performers invited by Leah Capaldi to perform Hung at the Serpentine Gallery, Tate Liverpool as part of the Keywords project in conjuction with Iniva. ICA, Institute of Contemporary Art, London, participated in a performance lead by Leah Capaldi (Allure) as part of the Bloomberg New Contemporaries exhibition. Belenguer participated in several other exhibitions including Distrustful Space in the Patio central de la ENPEG "La Esmeralda" in Mexico city, No Soul for Sale at the Tate Modern.
In October 2014, Belenguer exhibited at the group show "We Could Not Agree" that took place in a car park in London.
Awards
In 2006, he was awarded a one-year residency at the Florence Trust in London
