Long feng zhi

Long feng zhi is an ancient Chinese art that interprets human activity through the variety and force of nature. This form of art originated in ancient China and slowly spread its appearance throughout many other countries, including Korea where it was adapted to use strips of leather and coined "hyuk pil." In the Orient, it is believed that to own a long feng zhi brings good luck and long life through the meanings of the various symbols, such as bamboo for longevity and fish for good luck in finance. The hand-painted art originals feature an olla podrida of characters from birds, koalas, dolphins, and whales to rainbows, flowers, mountains and sunsets, all by the use of watercolor. This art form is used to generate an array of names such as "welcome", "joy" or "love", custom names such as "Chris" or "Ashley," couples names with a heart in the middle, as well as surnames. The brushes are handmade from strips of leather with metal clasps that resemble the look of miniature money-clips. The paintings are created in a matter of minutes and many customers choose to stay and watch the art come to life in front of them through the rapid twisting and flipping of the brush in hand. The artist infuses every painting with their feeling and spirit, which channels their energy through every piece of art.
