Sarkis Antikajian

Sarkis Antikajian is an Armenian-American artist who resides in Cheshire, near Eugene, Oregon. He paints landscapes, seascapes, figures, still lifes, and abstracts, using oil, acrylic, watercolor and pastel. His drawings are created with ink, charcoal, graphite and watercolor.
Antikajian was born in 1933 to Armenian parents, and grew up in Amman and Jerusalem. He received a degree in chemistry at the American University of Beirut before studying pharmacy at the University of New Mexico. After decades of professional practice as a pharmacist, Sarkis retired to his studio at his farm in Cheshire to better indulge his love of creating fine art. He finds abundant subject matter for his craft in the area of Oregon where he lives, but he has also painted extensively on his travels. Antikajian was listed in Who's Who in America between 2001-2007 and Who's Who in the World between 2002-2007.
Book
Antikajian recently published a collection of 274 of his images in a coffee table book: Sarkis: Paintings, Drawings and Images in Words. 230 of the images are in full color, and the book also contains free verse poetry by the artist.
