London Underground 2016 Stock

General Information
2016 stock will be a new fleet of trains on London Underground, being delivered between 2016 and 2017, and will operated on the Northern line. These brand new trains will be used in conjunction with the existing London Underground 1995 Stock on the Northern line. The old stock will be approaching twenty-one years old when the delivery of the 2016 Stock is complete.
Design
The new trains will probably be designed very similar, or exactly the same as London Underground 2014 Stock on the Piccadilly line, with air-cooling systems, audio and visual real-time information systems (as on the current Northern line stock), wider doors, and a better seating arrangement. The trains will be six or seven cars long, as both lines have the platform length to operate seven cars although both use six-car trains (the Piccadilly line has extraordinarily long carriages compared to the 7-car London Underground 1938 Stock, and is actually only about six feet shorter than the 1938 stock. Automatic Train Operation will be used, as the Northern line will be resignalled and the old stock modified for that purpose by 2011.
Delivery
The old stock will be approaching twenty-one years old when the delivery of the 2016 Stock is complete. The new trains will run on all branches of the line, as the Northern line is not going to be split for the time being. The 1995 stock, will need refurbishing at that stage, and so, the extra 2016 stock trains will also cover the 1995 stock trains absent for refurbishment.
