Locs Sunglasses

Locs sunglasses have been an element of Urban fashion since the late 1950s. Usually dark black sunglasses with a flat plain front and plain black temples. Locs sunglasses have become a status symbol amongst the Gangster rap genre and urban Hip Hop sub culture. They are a prevalent style of eyewear worn primarily by urban minority youths of major Western American inner cities. Notably south central Los Angeles California, Oakland California, Houston Texas, Chicago Illinois and urban centers that foster a traditional classic urban Hip Hop fashion trend.
Made notable by civil rights leaders in the 1950s American Civil rights movement they symbolized a hard cold look of indifference to ones adversaries.Later this style of eyewear was adopted by more militant members of the black Panthers Militant group centered in the Urban Ghettos of Oakland and South Central Los Angeles.
Later in the mid 1980s the style was adopted by Pioneering Gangster Rap artist Eazy E and his at that time Gangster Rap Band NWA.Locs Shades as they became to be known were considered and still are in some circles to be a very necessary component to ones attire especially within more street gang related sub cultures and circles.Around this time they were also adopted by a large group of the California Penal System and the preferred style of eyewear for the criminal elite.
Later on towards the early nineties the style was adopted by many other sub culture groups including Latino Street culture.\, Motorcycle Clubs and many other underworld subcultures. The style of the Locs Sunglasses depicts an image of a cold hard indifferent individual. It is believed by many that the dark lenses of the locs shades makes it impossible and harder for an individual to read a perceived opponents or potential victims emotions and or intents.
In and amongst themselves these simple sunglasses have taken on a whole other nuance and subversive set of meanings. With very intricate over and undertones conveying a Hardcore Gangster or criminal lool. In more recent times the style is still a readily accepted stable of hip hop fashion. With any internet search returning hundreds of thousands of responses. Many current hip hop artists still continue the trend and mention the style of Loc Sunglasses in OG Locs Shades their music that sees heavy rotation on major radio stations.
