List of state governors of the United States who were Freemasons

This is a list of Governors of US States who were Freemasons.
* Leon Abbett (1836-1894), 26th Governor of New Jersey (1884-87 and 1890-93), was a Master of Mystic Tie Lodge No 272 in New York, but later moved to Varick Lodge No 31 in Jersey City, New Jersey. He was the Grand Representative of Ireland near the Grand Lodge of New Jersey from 1886 to 1894. He was also a Royal Arch Mason, a member of Ancient Chapter No 1, New York City.
* Sherman Adams (1899-1986), Governor of New Hampshire 1948-52, later White House Chief of Staff for President Eisenhower
* James L. Alcorn (1816-1894), Governor of Mississippi 1870-71 and U.S. Senator 1871-77

* DeWitt Clinton (1769-1828), United States Senator, sixth Governor of New York, was Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of New York (1806-19), which established the DeWitt Clinton Award.
* Archibald Yell (1797-1847) member of the United States House of Representatives and second governor of Arkansas (1840-44), formed the first Masonic lodge in Arkansas at Fayetteville.
