This is a list of Neopets in alphabetical order. Neopets are a type of virtual pet which can be adopted by players on the Neopets website. They are available in the 54 different species listed below. Of those 54 Neopets, 9 of them (Chomby, Cybunny, Hissi, Jetsam, Kiko, Koi, Lutari, Poogle, and Tonu) are Limited Edition, which means only a certain number of them can be created at special times. Also, three other Neopets (Grundo, Draik, and Krawk) are Restricted, which can be created at any time but only through special methods.
A
Acara The Acara is a four-legged, cat-like creature with long ears and two antennae or tentacles that act as detectors underwater. Acaras are amphibious and their fur keeps them warm when they dive deep into the ocean. In general, they tend to be very playful and enjoy exploring, racing, and looking for hidden treasure under the sea.
When first introduced on the Neopets website on April 28, 2000, the pet now known as the Acara was an otter-like Neopet called the Tigren. They were chosen from a player's design as part of a Create-A-Pet contest. The name was changed on July 19 along with the Polypup's change to the Gelert. The news page touted the change as "evolution", in keeping with the Pokémon-like feel that the pets originally had. On their pet day in 2005, the Acara received a makeover.
Famous acaras are Roberta of Brightvale, Fauna the Gatherer, Princess Fernypoo and Ylana Skyfire.
In the Neopets TCG, Acaras are associated with the element of water.
As of June 2007, they were ranked 10th of 50+ species in popularity, with over 7 million created.
June 28th is the Acara Aquatic Festival (Acara Day).
Aisha The Aisha resembles a cat with four ears, the outer two of which are shaped like ordinary cat ears, while two resemble antennae that end in ears shaped like upside-down hearts. Aishas are intelligent, playful Neopets that have a talent for magic. The Aisha's skill in magic results in the monogrammed collar that the Aisha always wears. According to the TCG card Battle of Wits, an Aisha's collar letter depends on its skill in magic; most are skilled, but a few have the letters B or D on them. The Snot Aisha has an S on its collar, and the Darigan Aisha has a D on its collar. Aishas are also the only pets on the site with an "Alien" version which can only be accessed using the Lab Ray.
Famous aishas include Jerdana the protecter, Lisha, Isca and Caylis, Abigail, Farvin III from the game Gormball, Lady Osiri, Princess Sankara, the Fontaine sisters, Purrow and Meesha, Farlax V, Sophix II and the Court Dancer. Lisha is a yellow aisha, who is the telltale sister of Jeran the lupe. Isca and Caylis, two aisha mermaids, represent dark and light. Farvin is the face of the game Gormball.
In the Neopets TCG game, Aishas are commonly associated with the element of light.
As of June 2007, they rank 21st out of the 50+ species, with over 4.1 million created.

Despite their appearance, Bruces are generally good at sports and love to dance, compete in winter games, and eat cold food. They originally came from the snow-covered Terror Mountain region.
Famous bruces are Brucey B,Denethrir, and Delfeene.
In the Neopets TCG, Bruces are associated with the element of light.
As of June 2007, they were the 12th most popular out of 50+ available species. Over 6.2 million have been created.
December 5th is Bruce Day. Like any other Neopet, Bruces are fun to play with and love to go to Terror Mountain.
Buzz The Buzz is a dragonfly-like species of Neopet. Buzz (the plural, according to Neopets, is not Buzzes) have excellent eyesight and can fly very quickly, allowing them to easily obtain the berries they love to eat. They are also predatory despite having tiny teeth. They may look mean, but have kind personalities.
When first introduced on January 11, 2000, the pet now called the Buzz was once called the Fleye, which resembled a flying eyeball, and was changed into its current reptilian insect design on July 24, 2000.
In the Neopets TCG, Buzz are associated with the element of darkness.
As of June 2007, the Buzz is ranked 37th out of 50+ species, with over 2 million created.

C
Chia Chias are generally playful and friendly little creatures who love to explore. They look like sack-shaped blobs with pudgy, little arms and legs along with a tuft of hair on its head.
The very first Neopet, Thyassa the Chia, was "born" on November 14, 1999 (the day before the site was officially opened). Chias appear to be favourites with Neopets staff (Donna has stated that the Chia is her favourite because it's so easy to draw). They are available in a wide array of variations which are not available to any other pet species. These variations make them look like fruits and vegetables (for example, the Orange Chia looks like an actual orange instead of simply being orange in colour.) Chias are well known for being the food of Lupes, and perhaps that accounts for the many colours, or rather, flavours, of Chias.
Famous chias are Thyassa, Florg, the Jelly Chia, the Chia Clown, Hubrid Nox and the Highland Chia.
In the Neopets TCG, the Chia is represented by special Villain characters.
As of June 2007, the Chia is ranked 27th out of 50+ species. Over 2.87 million have been created.
February 18th is Chocolate Chia Day (Chia Day).
Chomby The Chomby is a limited edition species of Neopet. It is a shy, plant-eating, stegosaurus-like neopet who is most happy when munching on leaves and grasses. The weight of a moving Chomby can cause small earthquakes. They appeared on March 22, 2001, and are a limited edition species, which are occasionally released during special events.
In the Neopets trading card game, Chombies are associated with the element of light.
As of June 2007, they rank 48th out of the 50+ species, with over 360,000 created.
March 22nd is the Chomby Carnival (Chomby Day).
Cybunny right The Cybunny is a limited edition species of Neopet, introduced on July 10. They resemble rabbits and often live in Neopia's coldest regions, where they can easily camouflage against the snow and frolic in the winter air. Young Cybunnies generally love to play games. Like real rabbits, they are very swift.
Because they are limited edition, Cybunnies are rare in Neopia. A few are made available on the site periodically (April 27); and players can also use certain items to change their pets into Cybunnies, such as Morphing Potions or Magic Cybunny Plushies. Cybunnies are also rare in that selecting one of the four default colors changes the tuft of fur around its neck, while the fur on its body remains white.
A famous cybunny is Cylara.
In the Neopets TCG, Cybunnies are associated with the element of earth.
As of June 2007, the Cybunny is ranked 46th out of 50+ species, with over 475,000 created.
April 27th is the Cybunny Carnival (Cybunny Day).
D
Draik The Draik is a Limited species. They were released on June 25, 2002. They resemble small, winged, cross between western and eastern dragons and are thought to have originated from Meridell. They can be obtained by purchasing a Draik Egg from Meridell's food shop and taking it to the hatchery, also located in Meridell, or by buying a Draik Morphing Potion or Draik Transmogrification Potion. Alternatively, players can buy the Draik Egg, Morphing Potions, or Transmogrification Potions from Auctions, Trades, or shops of other Neopets users. However, these Draik Eggs are extremely rare and expensive. Draiks could be called the second rarest pet in the game, the third being Lutari and the first being Krawk.
In the Neopets trading card game, Draiks are associated with the element of Fire.
As of June 2007, the Draik is ranked 53rd out of 50+ species. Just over 10.7 thousand have been created.

E
Elephante The Elephante was introduced to the site on January 13, 2000. Elephantes are similar to elephants. The only differences are two small wings and a fluffy rabbit-like tail. They are not completely harmless, as they are able to shoot objects from their trunks with great accuracy. They are generally kind and generous.

As of June 2007, the Elephante is ranked 25th out of 50+ species. Over 2.9 million have been created.

Eyrie The Eyrie resembles a griffin. Eyries live in tropical regions and like to play but can be quite fierce and cunning in battle, especially if their territory is ever threatened. They are adventurous, eager to learn, and noble.
The pet now called the Eyrie was originally the Cerpull, one of the original pets, which looked more like a dragon than a griffin. It was first changed into the more gentle Tatsu on July 13, 2000, before being completely redesigned to the current Eyrie on January 26th 2001. The definition of an eyrie is "the lofty nest of a bird of prey (such as a hawk or eagle)" or "any habitation at a high altitude", which makes it an excellent name for a neopet that resembles a bird.
In the Neopets TCG, Eyries are associated with the element of air.
As of June 2007, they were ranked 9th most popular out of 50+ available species. Over 7.1 million have been created.
October 10th is Eyrie Day.
F
Flotsam The Flotsam is one of the original Neopets. Dolphin-like in appearance, Flotsam love to swim the Neopian oceans and are quick to sense danger. They cannot breathe underwater, so they enjoy seeing how far they can dive while holding their breath. Flotsams were originally limited edition but no longer are. The Flotsam was originally a goldfish-like creature that was transformed into a dolphin on June 22, 2000. The horn on its head may be a reference to narwhals, a species of whale.
In the Neopets TCG, Flotsam are rather obviously associated with the element of water.
As of June 2007, the Flotsam is ranked 23rd out of 50+ species. Over 3.4 million have been created.
July 3rd is Flotsam Day.
G
Gelert The Gelert is a dog-like species of Neopet, whose name comes from a legendary Welsh dog. Gelerts are generally courageous, selfless, faithful, kind, courtious, and brave, much like Gelert, the hunting hound from whom they take their name. They are also easily confused.
The Gelert was originally called the Polypup and released on January 25 2000. It looked more like a wingless dragon than a dog and had shorter, thicker ears and tail. It also wore a collar, where the current Gelert does not. It was changed into the Gelert, a more greyhound-like creature, on July 19, 2000. however, this has been retconned and now Grundos are originally from Neopia's moon, Kreludor. An aspect they once possessed was that they could only speak in backwards English (i.e. "olleh" meant "hello"). Now they speak normally.
Grundos, a restricted species, are unique among the various species of Neopets, in that they must be adopted from the Virtupets Space Station. There they are available in seven different colours instead of the four available to other pets. The reason for this unusual situation is that they were originally adopted by players as part of one of Neopets' plots in order to put a stop to one of Dr. Sloth's evil schemes. They were first put up for adoption on October 24, 2000. Grundos are the only pet that can be colored Mallow. Originally, players were able to use special characters and spaces in their names; this ability was later removed.
In the Neopets TCG, Grundos are associated with the element of light.
As of June 2007, the Grundo ranked 11th out of 50+ species on the site. Over 6.3 million have been created.
August 24th is Grundo Independence Day (Grundo Day).
H
Hissi The Hissi is a snake-like Neopet with wings. It was released May 4, 2005. Hissi have acute vision and a keen sense of smell which makes them extremely good at games of hide and seek. A monstrous, ghost Hissi is one of the traps in the Deserted Tomb in the Lost City of Geraptiku on Mystery Island.
In the Neopets TCG, Hissis are associated with the element of darkness.
Because they are "limited edition", not very many have been created. As of June 2007, they are the 51st most popular out of the 54 existing Neopets, with just over 225,000 created.
I
Ixi The Ixi is a creature similar to a goat or deer. They originally came from the Neopian world of Meridell and were the 46th species introduced on the site. Before the introduction of the Yurble and Ruki in May and July of 2004, the Ixi enjoyed the status of newest species for almost two years. They were released on July 11, 2002 as a limited edition species, but they are no longer limited edition. In general, they are curious, dainty, and enjoy playing hide and seek. Their species name may have been derived from Ixion, the father of centaurs in Greek mythology.
In the Neopets TCG, Ixis are associated with the element of Earth.

http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h135/neopet_photos/jetsam_ghost_baby.gif
Due the loss of their habitat and food source during the destruction of Maraqua, they are limited edition. A few may be made available on the site periodically; players can also use certain items to change their pets into Jetsam.
In the Neopets TCG, Jetsam are associated with the element of water.
As of June 2007, the Jetsam ranked 45th out of 50+ species on the site. Just over 750,000 have been created.
October 16th is Jetsam Day.
JubJub JubJubs resemble furry balls of fluff with large feet, round eyes, and no arms. Most JubJubs have black eyes and orange feet, although this may vary when a JubJub is "painted" a colour other than the standard red, yellow, green, or blue. JubJubs can be painted many of the same colours as other Neopets and a more exotic Coconut colour. They may also be painted Garlic, a characteristic they share with the similar-looking Kiko.
JubJubs are generally shy creatures. When threatened, they can curl into a ball and roll with astonishing speed. They can also make a deafening screech to drive off attackers. There has been some question as to whether JubJubs are related to the toy known as the Fuzzle, as the Fuzzles are similar to JubJubs in appearance. However, an entry in the Neopets help files denounces the rumour that Fuzzles are baby JubJubs, and explains that they are just toys.
The JubJub was originally called the JibJib and had a slightly different appearance. The JibJib was one of the site's original pets. The name was changed, for reasons unexplained, on August 23, 2000. The JubJub attained its current name from the beast called the JubJub Bird in the Lewis Carroll poem, Jabberwocky; however, the Neopian JubJub does not resemble a bird in the least.
The JubJub's appearance was updated on June 6, 2006. Now, they stand on their feet and their hair is styled.
In the Neopets TCG, JubJubs are associated with the element of air.
As of June 2007, the JubJub ranked 8th out of 50+ species on the site. Over 7.1 million have been created.
June 6th is JubJub Day.
K
Kacheek The Kacheek resembles a very simplified cross between a teddy bear and a fox, standing on its short hind legs. Kacheeks are generally pleasant and are described on the Neopets site as fun-loving, calm, peaceful, and modest. They inhabit lush meadows, although they enjoy climbing things and avoid violence whenever possible. They love to gather flowers and make new friends.
The Kacheek was first known as the Badeek, one of the original pets on the site. It wore dark glasses and a less cheerful expression.
In the Neopets TCG, Kacheeks are associated with the element of light.
As of June 2007, over 12 million Kacheeks had been created, placing it at 3rd most popular Neopet. It ranked at 2nd place on September 2007.
January 29th is Kacheek Day.
Kau The Kau resembles, obviously, a cow. Kaus generally move in herds and enjoy singing, although they have been noted to only sing "moo". They are shy, but have no problem using their horns if threatened.
The pet now known as the Kau was originally named Macy Gray Aside from obtaining one through the Lab Ray and Neopets Mobile, this can suggest that Lutari owners can be proud of owning the pet due to the difficulty of creating one, even on days when Neopets says that they are released.
Lutaris are also "limited edition", meaning that they cannot be created any other day than their species day or on a day announced by the Neopets team. Users of the Neopets Mobile service may create Lutaris at any time from the "Create A Pet" section of the Neopets Mobile game. As of June 2007, the Lutari is the 52nd most popular Neopet of the 50+ species (with a little more than 15,000 of them created).

In the Neopets TCG, Meercas are associated with the element of air.
As of June 2007, over 4 million Meercas have been created. This makes them the 22nd most popular Neopet.
August 18th is Meerca Day.
Moehog The Moehog resembles a warthog. The name "Moehog" comes from the Mohawk hairstyle, which they have, and "warthog". Moehogs originally came from the mountainous parts of Neopia, where they carried objects for lazy Skeiths. After a while, however, they began to set up their own communities elsewhere, but they remained eager to help. Young Moehogs generally enjoy snorting up dust clouds and making noise. They were introduced on July 5, 2000 and later redesigned to a more modern look.
In the Neopets TCG, Moehogs are associated with the element of Darkness.
As of June 2007, the Moehog is the 29th most popular Neopet with over 1.3 million Moehogs existing.

Mynci is the Welsh word for the metal hames in a harness; though, it's likely Neopets confused it with the similar Welsh word mwnci, meaning "monkey". Both are homophones of the English word "monkey" when used in Welsh but according to the Neopets pronunciation guide the pronunciation of the Neopet is "mwn-sea".
In the Neopets TCG, Myncies are associated with the element of Earth.

Ogrins are shy and quiet in social groups; however, the Ogrin is a very intelligent species and is one of the most compainionable of all neopets, it enjoys studying nature. This Neopet was released on December 27, 2005. The Ogrin was an unexpected addition into Neopia and received much criticism from users. Some believed that the Ogrin was the April Fool's pet; however, this was cleared up when the Gnorbu was released.

They can supposedly fly, but it is yet unknown.

Contrary to popular belief, Shoyrus cannot breathe fire. They were first released on April 20, 2000 and were originally created by a user in a "Create-a-Pet" competition run on the site. Their legs were partly based on the Pokémon Mew (Myuu), though it may look more like a Charmander. [http://natsume.arc-night.net/faqs.html#create] Unfortunately, since the Shoyru's head is drawn in profile, this has led some users to believe that Shoyrus only have one eye; however, a Neopets editorial confirmed that Shoyrus do have two eyes.
In the Neopets TCG, Shoyru are associated with the element of air.
As of June 2007, the Shoyru is the most popular Neopet out of the 50+ species with over 13.4 million created.

Skeith The Skeith is a large, fat, cross between a bulldog and dragon with small wings, a flat face and a spiked tail. Skeiths are generally strong, lazy and unpleasant. They will eat practically anything, so owners learn to keep them well fed. Otherwise, their Skeith may randomly eat items from their inventory. However, this trait also means that Skeiths are easy to feed as they can be fed any item on the site (including non-food items. They can even eat Petpets!). The Skeith was one of the original pets on the site.
In the Neopets TCG, Skeiths are associated with the element of darkness.

They were released on February 21, 2002.

As of June 2007, they are the 5th most popular out of 50+ available species. There are 9.5 million in existence.

Usul The Usul, one of the original pets on the site, resembles a large squirrel with a coloured ruff and a bow on its tail. The species name possibly comes from a combination of "usagi" (the Japanese word for rabbit) and "squirrel." Usuls prefer to live in trees. They love visitors and are very friendly and brave, making them one of the least self-obsessed neopets.
Usuls have their own series of dolls, the Barbie-like Usukis. (There is also a Quiggle-inspired Quiguki, which was an April Fool's joke that became popular in its own right.) Every year on August 20, the site holds an imaginary event called UsukiCon, which may be a reference to UshiCon. When UsukiCon is held there are often several new releases of Usuki doll sets and Usuki-themed items on the site.
Usuls can be "painted" a wide variety of colours, including the colour of "Usuki", a colour that only the Usuls are available in. When painted Usuki, female Usuls resemble the "Magic Hair Usuki" doll, and males look like one of the male Usuki dolls.
In the Neopets TCG, Usuls are associated with the element of Earth.
As of June 2007, they are the 15th most popular pet out of 50+ species, with over 5.7 million created.
November 27th is when the Usul Skiing Season Begins (Usul Day).
One of Neopias most dastardly of creatures, the Shadow Usul, is also a member of this species. The Shadow Usul avatar can only be acquired after having an item stolen by the Shadow Usul through a Random Event.

Xweetok The Xweetok (pronounced "Zwee-tok") is a chipmunk-like pet that was released on November 30, 2005. Xweetoks do get along with Usuls, but avoid Kougras. They are forest-dwelling creatures with lightning-like agility and make their homes in trees; if there is no room in a tree, they build burrows. Xweetoks are supposed to have very soft fur. Xweetoks are said to enjoy battle and have a tendency to have higher starting stats (used in battle) than most other Neopets. They supposedly take good care of their petpets and love jellybeans.
They have proven to be popular since their release. As of June 2007, they rank 7th in popularity out of the 50+ species, with over 7.3 million in existence, displaying the biggest population growth rate ever seen for a Neopet. Their popularity has yet to be acknowledged by the Neopets staff. They have only appeared once, in the Journey to the Lost Isle plot, and not on any game, merchandise, nor TCG card.
November 29th is Xweetok Day.

They have big feet with three toes, along with an arrow-shaped tuft of hair at the end of its tail. Not very many have been featured in the Neopets plots except in crowd scenes.
