The peckerwood subculture which originally derived from the white power skinhead subculture, became an evident part of California street gang culture. The form of gang coalesced into a nationwide peckerwood subculture inside and outside of prisons. These gangs are most common in California as well as Arizona. California Contra Costa County * The Contra Costa County Boys otherwise known as the CoCo County Boys Marin County of the San Francisco Bay Area * Inside the San Quentin State Prison ** The Aryan Brotherhood, which generally is considered the precursor to the modern peckerwood subculture Santa Clara County * San Jose, California ** The East Side San Jose Peckerwoods (ESSJ) * The White Power (WP) gang Long Beach Area of Los Angeles County * The Nazi Low Riders * The Public Enemy No. 1 gang Gateway Cities Area of Los Angeles County * The La Mirada Punks, a Sureños and peckerwood punk gang<ref name="jai" /> San Gabriel Valley Area of Los Angeles County * The Connelly Boys of West Covina, California<ref name="jai" /> San Diego County * The Stoners Reeking Havoc (SRH), a surf and skate punk gang.
