Liisa Ladouceur

Liisa Ladouceur writes about music and unpopular culture, and is the author of two books, Encyclopedia Gothica (2011, ECW Press) and How to Kill a Vampire: Fangs in Folklore, Film and Fiction (2013, ECW Press). She regularly talks about goth music and subculture, vampires and other such dark arts on radio and television, where she brings shadowy subjects to light, and was the keynote speaker for Popular Culture Association of Canada in 2012. Ladouceur started all this with a community TV show in high school and a DIY zine in university, and has since been widely published. She’s a former music columnist for Eye Weekly, CBC Radio’s DNTO and Rue Morgue Magazine, and currently writes about good records and interesting people for Huffington Post Canada, The Grid and SOCAN’s Words and Music, and curates playlists for Songza. She has appeared on MuchMoreMusic, George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight, Kevin Newman Live, and CBC Newsworld. Ladouceur writes poems and she has performed spoken word across North America and has a chapbook, On Tenterhooks.
