Lifestyle factors are factors that impact on an individuals health. Most of these factors are behavioural like diet, physical activity, alcohol intake and tobacco smoking.
Examples of lifestyle factors in reference to cardiovascular disease
Tobacco smoking - Smoking tobacco is a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease due to an temporary increase in blood pressure and constriction of blood vessels.
Physical activity - Being physically inactive is associated with an increased risk of death and disability due to cardiovascular disease due to decreased cardiovascular fitness.
Diet - A diet that is high in saturated fat is a significant risk factor for cardiovascular through increasing blood cholesterol levels.
