In San Francisco, he was named host of the technology program, "TechTV," on KRON-TV, an NBC affiliate. He soon was tapped to appear on the station's morning newscast as a feature reporter. From there, he went to KPIX for the magazine show, "Eye on the Bay." Away from broadcast studios, Mayclem has led food-related tours, both in the Bay Area and on cruises to Asia, Europe and the Mediterranean. He is often tapped to host community events and fundraisers, where he has served as an auctioneer as well as MC, for organizations including the AIDS Emergency Fund, Healthright 360, Project Open Hand, the 1990 Institute and the Northern California Cancer Center.
