Leslie Kulesh (Born January 4, 1982 in Lake Forest, Illinois, USA.) is an American Contemporary Artist. Known for her installation and sculptural work which is often made from basic craft materials, such as yarn stretched in columns throughout gallery spaces, and xeroxed images. Kulesh's work deals with notions as seemly disparate as intellectual property and self empowerment, drawing influence from a wide range of sources such as Ram Dass & Lao Tzu, and Deleuze & Guattari In addition to her sculpture Kulesh has a strong online presence largely voiced through her blog Weed-Dawg, described by uptownalmanac.com as "the best Mission blog of the new Millennium" Biography Kulesh studied at the Otis College of Art & Design in Los Angeles, and holds a BFA in New Genres from San Francisco Art Institute. Largely known for her installations Kulesh originally made a name for herself as an upcoming young artist on the San Francisco Graffiti scene. After studying at the San Francisco Art Institute she began working in Paris, France as a designer for Andrea Crews. She subsequently moved to London, England working with notable Artist-run space Auto-Italia South East. ==As if!== In April 2011 Kulesh co-produced , a play based on the 1995 movie Clueless. The play was performed at Engine Works, an Artist-run space at 17th & Capp in San Francisco's Mission District. As well as co-producing the play Kulesh also worked as set designer, and played the role of Amber. The play ran for two weeks with nine performances, selling out all seats.
