Leonid Konovalov

Leonid Konovalov (born either 1946 or 1947) is a Russian homeless He is a "former military man", identified himself as a miner and actor at different points in his life, and visited the United States during the 1990s. However, he does own a house, and says he lives like a tramp by his own choice. which covers his "controversial relations with society".<ref nameRT/> Described as an erotic-philosophical production, and saying he was motivated to create it out of a strive for creativity, during the film Konovalov stripped completely.<ref nameRT/> Konovalov said he could afford to make the two hour long film by selling rubbish, but many people within the oblast have doubted his explanation and described him as being able to afford to go to a theater frequently; Konovalov accepts he is a theater lover.<ref name=RT/>
Konovalov's daughter, who lives in a European country, assisted him in sending the movie for consideration for the 2009 Cannes Film Festival, and he received a reply saying that his movie is being considered for the second selection round.<ref nameRT/> He was also invited to attend the participants' press conference.<ref nameRIA/> Film critic Aleksandr Golubchikov believes the chances of the film progressing further are small, described the movie as something "no one will take...seriously", and added "the only reason it can interest the Cannes is the fact that it fits into a new you-tube home-video format… and that is now the hottest trend".<ref name=RT/> Konovalov is now actively promoting his movie, and is selling copies at 10,000 rubles (US$ 300) each to gain money for his next project,<ref nameRT/> a musical love story.<ref nameRIA/> In an interview with RIA Novosti, he said he has a script completed, and says he will play one of the lead roles, and will tell of his relationship with an actress from a theater in Kemerovo.<ref nameRIA/> He plans to invite her to perform in the film, but he said he is not sure she will agree.<ref nameRIA/>
