Leon James (musician)

Leon Robert James Well known by his stage name Leon James is a musician, theater artist and a music researcher. Leon is a multi-instrumentalist and play traditional didgeridoo which is his favorite. He also plays Djembe,Darbuka, Bongos, Udukkai, Parai, Tank drum, Cajon, Uddu, Guitar, Ukulele, Ravanahatta, Mandolin, Gopi chand, Bul bul Tarang, Chowdike, Berimbau, Mouth bow, Kalimba, Didgeridoo, Melodica, Angklung, Xylophone, Tibetan horn, Wind-wand, Chinese hulusi,Shehnai, Native American flute,Morsing, Kubing, , Ocrina, Indian flute, Shofar, Kokkarai, Duduk, Magudi, Recorder flute, Mouth harmonica, Puck, Brazilian rattles.
Personal Life
Leon born in an Anglo-Indian Family to Leonard James and Evelyn James on 03.07.1983. He Studied in Stanes higher secondary Anglo-Indian school, Coimbatore. He was early working in IT sector before coming to art field. He travels to different destinations to learn and teach indigenous people of the land. He is passionate about indigenous, tribal, extinct music and musical instruments. Intrigued by the lost art forms, Leon spends more time in finding the roots and the interdependence between music from people’s culture, tradition and beliefs.
Passion and Career
Leon has performed in various Television shows and He is Owns an Art Academy called Whodini Art Academy. Leon Worked as the music director and actor for the renowned theater group, Thinai Nila Vasigal. He is the musician for Udalveli Arts Foundation, a Coimbatore based theatre group, and also works with Dr. S.Murugaboopathy, National Award Winner and the founder of ‘Manalmagudi Theatre Land’, to form musical theater
