Lauren Wasser is a 28-year old model who is known to recover from a near death TSS experience and then debuting at the New York Fashion week despite wearing a prosthetic leg. A 24 year old Lauren was diagnosed with toxic shock syndrome in 2012. An infection disease specialist was called in lately and identified the cause to her wearing a tampon that was long overdue beyond its normal wear time and presents serious risks to the victim. In a short period, the infection turned into gangrene and Lauren had to have her right leg below the knee amputated.<ref name=":2" /><ref name=":3" />
