Laser Sunday/Laser Day
A somewhat unknown holiday, Laser Sunday (second Sunday in August) started in 2007 to celebrate the birth of the laser by Theodore Maiman. It is celebrated with laser shows, laser tag events and (planned for 2008) the first use of the Neutron Laser. Believed to originate in Washington, Laser Sunday (or Laser Day) is quite unorganized, and the significance of the date is unknown.
