Larry E. Coben

Larry E. Coben is an American personal injury lawyer who has obtained millions of dollars in verdicts and settlements on behalf of injured people in nearly every state in the . He serves in leadership roles in numerous legal organizations including an Arizona Trial Lawyers Association Board of Directors. Coben is also a former Chair of the American Association for Justice (AAJ) Products Liability Section and has served in various leadership roles for the American Bar Association.
Coben represents people suffering catastrophic brain and spinal cord injuries as well as victims of unsafe and defective products.
Notable Verdicts and Settlements
Coben serves as a member of the Executive Committee in the Federal NFL Concussion Litigation, which reached a $765 million proposed settlement to aid former players suffering from neurological disorders. He and Anapol Schwartz partner Sol H. Weiss filed the first of the federal lawsuits titled Easterling v. The National Football League.
Coben also obtained $26 million in Buongiovanni v. General Motors Corporation on behalf of a woman who suffered a catastrophic spinal cord injury after a defectively designed front passenger seat in a 1984 Chevrolet Chevette failed to yield rearward in a rear-end collision.
Coben’s $10.2 million verdict in Pursell v. Volkswagen made VerdictSearch’s Top PA Verdicts of 2010. He secured the award for a woman who suffered catastrophic injuries to her internal organs and spinal cord, resulting in and loss of bowel and bladder control. Professional Recognition
Coben was the 2010 recipient of the AAJ Steven J. Sharp Public Service Award for his representation of thousands of consumers before the U.S. Congress and the U.S. Bankruptcy Court. He fought to prevent General Motors Corporation and Chrysler Corporation from avoiding responsibility for the sale of defective products as the companies restructured operations during the financial crisis of 2009.
Coben was named a Top 100 Lawyer in Pennsylvania by Super Lawyers® and has been included in the publication every year since 2011. He also received the 2009 Attorneys’ Information Exchange Group Presidential Award for Outstanding Service in the Pursuit of Justice.
