Lanre Arogundade

Lanre Arogundade is a Nigerian journalist, media trainer, activist and Director, International Press Centre (IPC), Lagos.. A former Assistant Editor and Member Editorial Board at the Vanguard newspaper, Arogundade served as Chairman, Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Lagos chapter.
Born 13th July 1962, Arogundade attended the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), Oyo State, (now in Osun State of Nigeria). While at Ife, he was the President, National Association of Nigerian Students and due to his activism in 1984, he was arrested and detained at the Ife prisons during the military administration of Major General Muhammadu Buhari.
Arogundade tried his hands in politics and he was the governorship candidate in Lagos State under the umbrella of the National Conscience Party (NCP).
He has continued his activism, promoting the welfare and safety of Nigerian journalists. Recently, he condemned the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) for sanctioning Channels Television, Africa Independent Television and Arise Television for extensive coverage of the protest.
