Lancaster Community Safety Coalition

The Lancaster Community Safety Coalition (also known as LCSC) is a crime fighting organization located in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, United States. The LCSC is a community based, non partisan, 501(c)3 nonprofit composed of businesses, governmental representatives and concerned citizens.
The LCSC was created in 2003 to explore the creation of and deployment of a citywide, privately operated, cooperative video surveillance system and other technology or environmentally driven crime prevention tools.
The Lancaster Community Safety Coalition currently monitors 70 surveillance cameras in the City of Lancaster.
History
In August of the year 2000, the Lancaster Crime Commission was formed and its February 2003 Report included the formation of the “Lancaster Public Safety Coalition” among its accomplishments. Later renamed the Lancaster Community Safety Coalition. On June 11, 2003, the LCSC opened its office at 262 Conestoga Street. With the assistance of the Lancaster Alliance, the LCSC secured start-up funding and established its bylaws, board of directors, policies, and core services. By January 2005 the LCSC became fully operational.
Accomplishments
Since 2005, surveillance cameras monitored by the Lancaster Community Safety Coalition (LCSC) have enhanced law enforcement efforts and served as a deterrent to crime and disorder. LCSC’s services have proven to be an invaluable asset to both the community and police in response to the following types of incidents: Vandalism, Auto theft, Thefts from vehicle, Burglaries, Robberies, Concealed weapons, Gang activities, Prostitution, Assaults/ shootings, Arson, Drug use/ dealing, Hit-and-run auto accidents, Reckless endangerment of child, and Disorderly conduct.
