Laila Al Habsi

Laila Al-Habsi (born c, 1993) is the first Arab and Omani woman to dive in the lake Baikal. Early life Laila, born in UAE is an Alumnus of the International School of Choueifat. She pursued her higher education in Moscow at the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia, where she specialized in Applied Geology and Russian Interpretation. She currently lives in Oman. Diving Lake Baikal As a child, Laila used to regularly visit Ras Al Hadd to snorkel and growing up she regularly dived within and outside Oman. The dive took place on the 24 of January 2019, three days after her birthday; she took a flight from Moscow to Irkutsk then a two-hour car ride to the lake. Laila performed a shore dive in a dry suit. Her biggest challenge was regulating her breathing, as her body went into slight shock due to the extreme change in temperate. |
