Kalvithanthai Haji. S.M.S. Shaik Jalaludeen

"Kalvithanthai" Haji S.M.S. Shaik Jalaludeen (born on 28 January 1920 and died on 2 October 1986) was the founder secretary of Khadir Mohideen Boys Higher Secondary School (in 1949), Khadir Mohideen College (in 1955) and Khadir Mohideen Girls Higher Secondary School (in 1982). Early life
Shaik Jalaludeen was the only son of the former chairman of Adirampattinam, Muhammed Abul Hassan Maraikayar. He began his school education at Aaravamutha Ayyangar Middle School in Adirampattinam. Shri. R. Venkatraman, former 8th president of India and N.S. Elango (a friend of DMK president Dr. M. Karunanithi) were classmates of Shaik Jalaludeen.
Muslim education
After Indian independence, muslim students from Adirampattinam needed to travel far to achieve their goals of higher education."Kalvithanthai" Shaik Jalaludeen realised how difficult it would be for the indigent to travel and pursue higher studies. Without hesitation he decided to make his hometown Adirampattinam itself a place of higher education. He extended the benefits of M.K.N. Madarasa Trust to other sections of people by starting several educational institutions at Adirampattinam. Thus came into existence the Khadir Mohideen Boys Higher Secondary School on 25 June 1949 and Khadir Mohideen Girls Higher Secondary School on 4 June 1982 by his efforts.
