L.A.D SOC

L.A.D SOC or Lambda Alpha Delta (ΛΑΔ ) is a fraternal organization founded in 2007. With chapters in many British Universities from London to Edinburgh Lambda Alpha Delta is a widespread and diverse body of young academics.
History
Lambda Alpha Delta was officially founded by Alistair McKnight, Thomas Griffiths and Jonathan Willcocks at Cardiff University.
Other societies were already represented at Cardiff University (Law Soc, Jomec, Med Soc e.t.c.) However the L.A.D Soc founders, whilst able to join these other societies, decided that they needed a society bound together by more than simply the subject you read or the sport you play. Drawing inspiration from the American fraternity houses, Lambda Alpha Delta sought to bring together like minded individuals with the intention of friendship and the social benefits therein. Whilst not being elitist toward those studying less academic subjects or toward those with less sporting prowess, Lambda Alpha Delta's intention was to create a society able to be joined by young men of all shapes, sizes and academic disciplines.
The name was decided upon unanimously by the founders, the ironic nature of the acronym suiting the light hearted spirit at the centre of the societies identity. The founding members were also responsible for designing the crest/logo and creating a motto suitable for the society; Semper in pusio nos fides
roughly translating as "always in lad we trust" referring to the societies acronym name.
The organization soon founded chapters at other Universities including Nottingham, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Lancaster, Royal Holloway and Exeter, though Cardiff remains the centre of the organization and the largest branch of the society.
