KWJU-CD

KWJU-CD was a low-power Class A television station in Van Nuys, California that broadcast locally in digital on UHF channel 30. Founded on August 4, 1998 as a Santa Barbara station on UHF channel 66, it was owned and operated by Almavision, and serves the Los Angeles area on channel 32 through Special Temporary Authorization, instead of channel 57, for which it was licensed.
History
The FCC granted an original construction permit to Penny Drucker on August 4, 1998 to build low-power television station K66FV to serve Santa Barbara, California. With the impending reallocation of the 700 MHz spectrum, however, Drucker received permission to move the station to UHF channel 46. At the completion of construction, the station went on the air as K46GC, an affiliate of Christian Television Network. The FCC licensed the station on April 12, 2001. Penny Drucker transferred the station to Seattle Streaming Radio, LLC on September 22, 2003.
More changes were on the way. In 2004, full-service KFTR-TV received permission to adjust its signal pattern. Interference studies predicted that the new pattern would greatly increase interference, so the station requested to move to channel 55. While waiting for the FCC to grant or deny the application, Seattle Streaming Radio entered an airtime agreement with Almavision, where Almavision would immediately begin programming the station, pending consummation of the sale. On December 1, 2004, K46GC became an Almavision affiliate, and when the sale was completed January 10, 2005, an O&O station for Almavision. The station was granted a permit to move to channel 57 and licensed the new facilities on December 1, 2005. Its new callsign was K57KF with city of license of Oxnard, California. The station again changed its city of license on March 31, 2006, to Simi Valley, then changed it to Van Nuys on July 19, 2006.
The station's stay on channel 57 would be short-lived. Qualcomm, which had purchased exclusive rights to broadcast on the frequencies occupied by channel 57, notified the station that it was causing interference to their operations, and demanded that they cease operations at once. On January 24, 2007, the station applied to move to channel 32 and requested Special Temporary Authority (STA) to operate there pending grant of the application. The STA was granted the next day.
