Kwanmudo

Kwanmudo - translating to "The Way Without Barriers" - is a hybird martial arts style founded by George E. Anderson and first used as a 'style' name in 1977. The style is largely based on Shotokan karate (through Song Moo Kwan, which is based on Shotokan karate), but includes (Okinawan weapons training), aikido, judo, and taekwondo (through Song Moo Kwan).<ref name=kmk-hist />
The martial art also goes by the name 'Kwanmukan', which is also the short name of an organization, International Kwanmukan, founded by George Anderson.
Empty-Hand Kata
Kwanmudo makes heavy use of Shotokan interpretations and versions of kata, often using the Shotokan names, although some kata are similarly named, but completely different. There are often many variations of a given kata from school-to-school, particularly within Kwon Kong Cheung Kwan, which often has variations within even a school.
