Kojongie

A Kojongie is a Nigerian hat invented by Allan Kojongie in 1967. They are made from alpaca wool and is similar in shape to some Russian hats. They are significanly less well insulated than the Russian varieties, they are simply styled in a similar way.

They are hard to find in Europe and the Americas, but are very common in Nigeria and can be found in stores which are found in most towns of the country, however they are relativly unheard of in other areas of the world so are infrequently published about.

In the country of Nigeria there are songs written about these hats. They are written in Nigerian, but when translated they are called something similar to "Shake your bongoes, Wear a Kojongie". The dance to this song is similar dance to many African tribal dances so a difference is not obviouly noticeable.
